Two eight.

Hello again little blog.
Just got back from Norway yesturday, ok, essentially the day before yesturday coz in England it's now 30th (early hours of) but no doubt this blog will only update in odd American time.
Miss Norway already, actually I was missing it about a day ago (it was very sad to go, but I was sort of invited back in the summer). Norway was most excellent, so chock-a-block with doing stuff! Soooooooooo much good food, too. Restaurant food no longer compares to the excellency which is Birger's food, *drool*. Sheeps head (I had sheeps tongue in my mouth, eyyy!) stick meat, dried etc leg of lamb in thin slices (got to bring some back, though Reigate house lacks sharp knives, urgh), did we eat pigs head bits in the end? Pork with crackle skin, turkey with figs, sprouts cooked with bacon... a veggie would not have survived.
Got up to lots like crosscountry skiing (included going down a big hill a few times, one time I made a BIG fall), and whooshing down hills on round plastic disks, and picking out Christmas tree, wading through knee deep snow, watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie (it's reeeeally good, I advise that you all go see it). I only wish that I could have seen more of Rarr and wanted to see Sexface too, since I've never seen him in actual Norway before.
First ever white Chrismas, since I was there 18th - 28th December. I think NYE will be a quiet one in with God & POSSIBLY Pamela...? We shall see.

Just before I went to Norway I met up with Moose, and we went to Leith hill. Got some lovely (even if not amazing quality) tree etc photos.
On the mention of which, here, have some images:I think this bark looks amazing. Of course, better in real life...Fungi! Looks so fun.Don't think I showed these last time, they're the 3 final pieces for my final 1st term project... full bleed illustrations for a childrens story called "Fish of the World". In the first the herring is going off on his adventures and seeing many wonderful fish, the second he is in the coral sea with piles of dead little creatures as high as mountains, and in the third he is just about to get caught. Lovely.Squelchy's x-mas prezzie, a cat hot water bottle cover! All handmade & all.Coffee holder-holder for Squelchy's mum. The biggest perfect bit of knitting I've ever done. She seemed to love it. Backed with felt, middle is fleece, gold sequin eye details.
I also made this little purse before the end of term, and then food related for / in Norway, I made an Eeeengleesh Christmas cake (though ready rolled icing instead of Royal icing, as otherwise it may not have survived the plane), and joint effort of a wonderful star shaped gingerbread invention with Squelchy.Mmm gingerbread. On the mention of Norway... heres some photos.Everything went white.Tall trees outside Folken, very pretty.Near Squelchy's house, but a little walk away down by the sea. The Squelch and I, skiing antics. Now for some non-Bex work...
Not sure who it's by, but I love the natural element to it.Vanada Jain. Embroidery.... yes... I feel the need to attempt it now.Bill Ferenc. Another of those bitty things. Good enough to join my ranks of "noice" though.Sanna Annukka. I have a M&S biscuit tin with her work on it, too! Yummy yummy. And finally, a cute looking house. I'd like to live there.

Good night. It's ridiculous o' clock. 4:48am!!!

P.S. I was 3 or so...

Twentyohcrapit'sVERYLATEseven.

Bonjour. I am currently hibernating. I haven't been hibernating the ENTIRE time that I haven't updated this, just doing work and having a little bit of a social life.
More parties at our house, please.
Am back in the Rei-gate at the mo, hence why I am hibernating (nearer to London, so shittier air, so zits appear and Bex gets SUPER DUPER TIRED... plus the bed is a double and has a down duvet and theres a radiator and ohhhh).
Off to Norway to see Squelchy for 10 nights tomorrow eve, I hope they don't take the x-mas cake away from me in customs. Shall make sure not to wrap it in tin foil (tin foil = bombs, yes?).
Dear England, if you think that the world has got suddenly very much darker on 28th December, NEVER FEAR! It's just me blocking out the sun as I come back from Norge. I am going to be very, very, very, very, very, very, very.... fat. Blob blob blob. Doesn't mean that I'm not looking forwards to the food though. Ohhhh sheeps heads and stick meat and squashed up pigs head and... (Squelchy, what else?).

I should be doing a million things right now. But I'm procrastinating.
Location drawing (though I'm not sure if Elk would enjoy me sitting in her room drawing her whilst she gets ready to go out... going out most Thursdays?! Insane!) and mum doesn't stay still enough as she's cooking a DUCK. Nom. And dad, well, he's not in.
And then theres the new uni project, something about information... I'm thinking of forests / trees / mountains... etc. No birds in there, please. They're too overused (earlier in the garden I saw a woodpecker, a robin, a blackbird, a jay, a bluetit, a wood pigeon, and a SQUIRREL).
And I have cards and presents to finish before I go to Norway. Eeeeek.

General life for the Bex is good, rather confusing, but good. Been missing Fal for days now, and the people (I never knew I could miss singing shanties so much, it's just NOT the same on your own).
But yes. Have some links and images and whatnot thrown at you (there may be quite a load, since I have a big backed up pile of them).
CAPLOOF.

This blog makes me gasm.

Squelchy & I are contemplating hiking round the Lake District in the Easter holidays. I loved the Swallows & Amazons books when I was young (and now, too, actually).

And now a big fat bundle of images, many of which I could not find out who made them... anyone know?
Simple yet not, nice that it's not yet another merMAID poacher.

AAA for aardvark. Not so sure about the round bits on it's shoulders, but the tail is nice, colours too.

What a happy looking man. How grimey.

Simple yet so obvious what it is. Plus I do love a good bit of mountains and whatnot. LAKE DISTRICT!!
Shapes! Fun, fun shapes!Michael Steele. I'm not a fan of all his work, but this piece is yummalicious.Rich Gemmel. Love it all! Could barely decide which one to show! Eeee.

Thats all for now. I think supper is nearly ready (have so far got away with not having to wash up or cook AT ALL).

This is twenty six six six

Some bellends on scooter things are whizzing around the carpark making loud noises. Shoot them all. Lets ignore the lateness. The last post refused to let me upload any pictures & whatnot, so this is pretty much going to be a picture post. YELLENA JAMES. It reminds me of mushrooms & fungi. Speaking of which, Silje & I gathered some horse mushrooms near Woodlane the other day. Still need to eat them. Mine is top notch quality! Nom. KAROLIN SCHOOR. Like the mean and evil foxes from Farthing Wood, but prettier! JON KLASSEN. This reminds me of the current temperature of my study. I can see my breath. GINA KELLY. Nice colour combo. Owls are always a winner. I miss them... don't hear them much (at all) in the middle of Falmouth. EMILY GLAUBINGER. I originally wrote "GlauBLINGER". Bling bling. DANIEL BRERETON. Not all his stuff is amazing, but this piece really caught my eye. Yummy detail. APAK STUDIO. They look like Little My! I shall probably be that squeaky beast which is Little My for Vera's birthday party on Saturday. To temprarily dye hair orange / ginger or not... SHIT... I DIDN'T SAVE THE MAKER OF THIS ONE... very graphic stuff, it reminds me of Falmouth at the moment. Recently, pissing is down with rain seems to be fashionable... And something I did today in life drawing. We had a really good female model, she was 50-60 I'd say but her figure was skinny but in FANTABULOUS shape! Plenty of yogo going on there, obviouly. She seemed like an old ballet dancer. I found that I like drawing with brush & ink (and then throwing in some detailing with just an Indian ink pen). Her shoulder reminds me of a mountain, I may have to do something with that. This week at Woodlane, Alan (Professor Alan Male, y'know!) & Mark (Mark Foreman, anyone...?) have been bitching (maybe not the best way to put it) about illustrator Lauren Child and book publisher Puffin. Reason for this is because there was once a graduate (the name fails me) from University College Falmouth (hurrah!) who showed an idea for a book to Puffin. They at the time said no, as economy was all over the place and she wasn't an established illustrator; so she left a copy of the idea there, just incase. Recently Lauren Child had a new release, a book about a poodle who doesn't want to be a poodle.
http://www.puffin.co.uk/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,9780141384900,00.html#
The story is remarkably similar to that of the Falmouth graduates, and also from Puffin. Perhaps they showed the story to Lauren Child and she took it on as her own. If so, the bastards! Pshh. Hope that never happens to me. I think the girl (woman, probably) is trying to do something about it, but it seems grim.

Why is all this writing coming out underlined with blue. It's really annoying.
Endy endy end end end.

1 2 3 4 5, this is number 25...

Oh scheisse, this one is definately late?
Whats been happening? WELL...
On 5th it was Bonfire night, of course, so we went round to shanty house & munched on nommy gingerbread which I made (Silje helped a bit, we went 1/2 and 1/2 with the icing) & looked at the fire & did story stuff etc....... and then I skipped off to Zef's (www.popuppirate.com) and had grrrrrrrrreat fun with truth or dare Jenga & then Worms. WORMS! Never played it before. Pretty sure I mostly failed. Needless to say, after that night I was not very in the land of the living the next day.
The land of the mostly dead continued into the weekend & beyond (insane amounts of snot & coughing & ohhhh all that sneezing...) but I went to shanty house again & did a LotR1&2 extended edition watch anyway. That ended at 5am. Eek.
Anything else happened? Yeah... some stuff. Mostly no-work stuff. We're currently in an advertising project, joint work soooo... I'm a little tricky currently as I'm used to working on my ownsome lonesome. Plus I like to come up with actual final pieces, but we just have to make visual roughs and BLERGH! Oh well. End of friday we get a new brief - childrens books! Highly exciting. Can't wait.

Oh oh, today I got a book in the post, it's very laavly. "Fingerprint: the art of using handmade elements in graphic design". Nom nom nom. I miss doing more graphicy stuff. I also miss doing more PRETTY stuff (for uni). Faye & I were talking about that t'other day, it's true: we can't do pretty stuff. It has to be all conceptual all the time, and thats a bit poo. Some illustration IS just plain old pretty. Alas.

I feel like I have a moustache, due to all the snot & blowing my nose parts of my face (nose etc) have gone all crusty. Hiw delightful.

Right, lets throw some pictures & linkages at you. My face is too tired to think of anything useful.
If this beast will ever let me upload any imageywotsits, that is... commmmeeeee on...

Now, have some linkages... (ohhhh BOLD...)

Silje found it. We want it. Nom.

Ohhh papercut animation. So pretty. So old seeming... is it old, or is it fake-old?

I want to see that moooovie.

Wantity want. Want want want. The motherly sort says it looks itchy though. WANT.

I miss hamsters. Especially those who are sosososososquidgyyyy.

24. What a boring title.

Mmmmmmm new Wolfmother album. And we all thought that they'd split. Well, they had.
http://open.spotify.com/album/5PmWF5ajnWUTeXWuZIvPV0

Start of a week & no project to do... except for the advertising thing, but how am I meant to do that without Silje & Ceri? I'M NOT. So I'll write this late blog. I was contemplating only updating this thing every 2 weeks, but thats a bit lazy, yes?

Just had the Halloween weekend, it was good enough - I probably had too high an expectation so when it wasn't top notch it wasn't quite so groovy as I had expected. Also, gaffa tape is reeeally warm & cozy (& sweaty) until you stay still, & the sweat goes cold. Brrr. BONDAGE DEER YEEEEAH. Here, have a photo. I don't know what that face of me is meant to be. Sambuca mixing with cider face, perhaps. Blergh, chubalicious.
And soon bonfire night. Been invited to a thing at the Shanty house (Dan, Lisa, Molly & Tim). Was thinking of going to Gyll beach, but now theres an invite... it'll be good. Woop for the shantiers. Speaking of which, tonight we're off round there to record songs for our first shanty album! Apparently it's only gonna be 3 tracks long (so it's a bit more like a fat single, shame it's not 5 tracks) but still, x-mas present for the family sorts?
Been thinking of presenty business for Silje's lot, since I'll be there for x-mas. It seems that a lot of chocolate is needed (but how can English chocolate even TRY to go against Norwegian chocolate...? Especially since I've now found out that Coca-Cola own Cadburys?! WHAT IS THIS MADNESS! I need to investigate how much they own them... if it's too much, then no more Freddo Frogs pour moi :(

Just had the crit for the last 2 weeks project (narrative). Mine was on the short story about a man who gets off wearing his wife's pregnancy dress "Dressing Up". Here's the 2 final pieces.

That one is meant to be a bit of a past memory, hence the big fat camera plonked down in the front. And then......this one is in present time, she's only just found out that he likes wearing her dress and... yeah. She's not so happy, but she'll accept tea from him.

Ohh, made some scrummy scones the other day for Squelchy & I, had some bacon to use up so bacon, spring onion & parmesan cheese scones. Om nom nom.
I want to make some gingerbread, and I wish we had managed to get a pumpkin 'coz then I could have made pumpkin & carrot soup. SLURP.

Woodlane is pretty at the moment (when it's not raining).Have some bamboo.

Anything else...? Haven't found any more linkages for you, so I'll skip off and read web comicy business now. OGLAF! SCARYGOROUND! QUESTIONABLECONTENT! Yeeeeah.

Update tomorrow maybe? Ha, fat chance.

Twenty threeeeeeeee

Hola!
The majority of my life in the past week has basically been sea shanties. Not that I'm complaining...
There was the Oyster festival last Saturday, then instead of practise at Jacob's on Monday we went on a freeeeee tour of the Skinners brewery in Truro. Although of course we were singing there, too... and then this Thursday & Friday we sung at the beer festival at Princess Pav's!
Blimey.
Nabbed a couple of photos from Oyster fest (shantying) and then brewery with the oh so gorgeous BETTY STOGS. Corrr, what a stunner.

I think we're doing a gig at Jacob's this coming Thursday, too... WITH A MICROPHONE.
It's good though. Plenty of free / way cheaper alcomohol. Om nom.
Shanty speak over?

YES. We've got our 3rd project now, 2 weeks long rather than 1... and once again I'm enjoying it. Cross dressers & all. We had to pick a short story from 5, mine is about a chap who loves trying on his wifes dress from when she was preggers, and then gets off on it... lovely.
Heres the finished thing from the project before this:
Current obsession is making my bedroom (and probably study, too) into a den. I'm rather liking these...

I cleverly managed to not record down the name for the one above.... and then this one below isn't exactly a den, but still...
An installation by Ryan de la hoz.
My bedroom is in the process of being overrun by bunting & hanging stars.

For only you to see:
http://www.oglaf.com/ have I already mentioned this? Fantasy pornish comic! Tres amusaunt.

Wednesday 14 October 2009

2 and 2 I need a poo

...must resist urge to mention that this post is almost on time...

I'm currently waiting for my supper to cook. Making a scrummy yummy cauliflower brocoli & pasta cheese. Oven. Mmmm (with nutmeg in the cheese sauce, it's the way forwards).
I only left uni at about 7:50pm today! Holy crap!

Anyone fancy being a WONDERFUL LOVELY AMAZING PERSON and buying me this...?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/harris-tweed-assorted-pieces-patchwork-fabric-1500g_W0QQitemZ150380417265QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM?hash=item23035f10f1&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14
£35 worth of Harris tweed off-cuts... am well aware that there are indeed other (probably cheaper) tweeds out there, but since watching that mini BBC series I've just wanted Harris Harris Harris...
Last night Silje & I watched the new SIR David Attenborough thing called "Life". We were only a little depressed that you don't see the glorious man himself, but you DO get his voice the entire way through.

Ouch, I just burnt my tongue on afore mentioned cheesy pasta veg foodage. Om nom. It was good. And now all gone.
RIGHT. What useful stuff can I write about this week.
Not much, coz I want to catch up on Ugly Betty.
But here, have these:

2 little double pages in my sketchbook from today, on my current illustration project (another week long one). They were originally just doodles, but I really like them now! Prefer the one with the big red dot to the other (big red dot means something, it's not JUST THERE... it's about changing / adjusting / removing part of someones memory or a part of a particular memory). Just chopped up a photo from my Canada trip & doodled those silly fashionable triangle shapes all over it...

Got my first gig with the Sea Shantiers on Saturday. EEEEEEEEEKKKK! GOT TO LEARN THE LYRICS. Got a shirt from them though, wheee! How exciting. Shall parade it round at home at x-mas. Thats ages away, but pffft.

OH, here's my final pieces for the week long project (warm up project) from last week. With my base as "cigars / cigarettes".

Hmmm, yes. I definately DEFINATELY prefer the final outcome of the elk one, that ones about fighting addiction where as the lung smoking one is about "sucking the life out of lungs" (like a juice box!). The layout is a bit poo, and to be honest I got a bit lost and a little stressed with it.
Definately a warm up project... speaking of warm, I have my waterbottle in bed with me. It's got cold enough in this room!!

Anyhoo, Ugly Betty time.
G'night!

P.S. Dearest anyone who actually ever reads this (again, I presume this number is minimal). If you ever find / know a way to stay AWAKE in lectures etc, please tell me. I'd be extremely grateful. I fall asleep when people talk to me, even if I've had plenty of sleep.
