Toowentifulwon

RIGHT, I shall write blog update whilst I wait for paint to dry.
This week, I have not done much. OH I LIE, we held our Circus / Freakshow party! I think it was a success, in the way that I enjoyed it. I was frog girl, of course.

Best photo I took (I didn't take many). All I can see is Vrarr's boobs & a slightly dead looking Will? Heh heh.
What else happened in the past week.... I finished my own personal Harris tweed & fluffy leopard material purse (the fluff makes it a little too bulky for my liking, so I don't think I'll keep that sort for Babahogs). Look! It fits cards and coins and everything! And is pretty much reversible! On the inside I stitched in the felty yellow letters "Cap'n Bex". Just incase I forget.
And I started back at uni (2nd year! Whoooo!) on Monday. Already got a project, iconography doo daa's on randomly picked items - I managed to pick cigarettes / cigars. Doing quite nicely though I feel, I hope. Eeek. It's pretty much just a warm up project, ends on Friday afternoon.
In class I forgot about THAT accent. Ohhh accent / bad English. Tiz good to be back. HELLO DAY STRUCTURE. Though now I can't do things such as play Sims / make stuff which isn't for uni, etc, without guilt. Bugger.
Sea shanty practise on Monday went quite nicely I feel, got a bit freaked out at one point when some people were saying that to stay as part of the official group each member should have to have to sing at least 1 song solo. OH DEAR GOD! I've always been told that I can't sing (apparently I can) and have never done a solo, and would BRICK myself if I had to, but luckily an opposing side appeared and sort of said that maybe everyone wouldn't have to, some people aren't that mad yet. Phew. Then went out drinking with some of them, found out that Molly reminds me of a more boisterous and folky Jenny. She's lovely though, laaaaverly! Lots of them are. I think the night ended up with a conversation with Zef with Vera and Silje talking about Moomins. Good times.

Tomorrow I may be going to another little Tristan Omeara gig (Q-bar) so I shall take a big waterbutt to drool into. Yes please...
Speaking of gigs, with the shanty group we have quite a few gigs lined up this month! (Well, I say quite a few...) one is apparently in front of 3,000 people at a beer / ale fest. EEEEK! I'll have to start learning me some lyrics better. Also with shantying, we're going on a free Skinners brewery tour soon. How exciting! Shame I don't like beer / ale...

Finally made Silje (and I) the 3 course meal the other day. INCLUDING THE BUTTERSCOTCH TART! It wasn't like how I remembered from Wray Common, but alas, that shall be a ghost from the past. This is very sweet. VERY. And I'm not sure if I whisked it enough (the electric whisk seemed to be overheating).

www.oglaf.com <- dirty comic. Well worth a read and a titter. Har har.
www.designspongeonline.com/2009/09/at-the-river.html Ohhhhhh.... alas. Noice noice noice.
www.thisiswhyyourefat.com <- oh golly. Heart attack hello. However, I am not fat because of those since I don't really eat those ever...

Not much else to show, really...

I AM THIS OLD. 20.

I really, really, REALLY want butterscotch tart.
REEEEALLY. Old primary school style, with the weird whipped cream on top. Oh please, someone make me some.
http://www.slowtrav.com/blog/palma/Butterscotch%20Tart.jpg
That is the most old-school style I can find, though we didn't get crushed stuff on top.
OHHHH YESSS.
Butterscotch tart served off of Tristan Omeara. Mehehehehe. He likes milk. This could just turn into a big drool ramble...

Our house party tomorrow, freakshow / circus style. I'll look a bit like a fakir frog girl?! Depends on if I do the whole weird turban business. Yay for painting my webbied feeties greeeeen.
Noooo idea how it'll go - I wonder if a) people will actually turn up, and b) will people dress up?
And what sort of party will it be? I rather like the sound of a chilled out do with nice music & happy alcohol'd up throats & good conversation. And some butterscotch tart.

Back to the thought of butterscotch tart... it says I have to "whisk the sugar and condensed milk together until thick and pale". I don't think I have QUITE enough patience to do this by hand, since I get bored whisking up even Angel Delight. Mmmm, butterscotch Angel Delight... good times. What machine would I use to whisk it not by hand? What is there in the electric cupboard... apparently we have one. Or sort of one. YAY. How very exciting. I shall need some baking beeeeans too.
Hmm, chocolate milkshake will have to feed my butterscotch want for the time being. Alas.

Hmmm, Sunday I shall be making a 3 course meal for Squidgy (and I) since I had a bet on with her. She didn't smoke for a week, so now I make food. What to make? Perhaps:
STARTER:
Some sort of white fish (whatever looks best at Fally fishmongers?! Actually I should probably find a nice flavoursome one... lets ask the mother. If she EVER replies to me on MSN. Coooome on.
Right, sea bass with asparagus & a lightly peppered white sauce.
MAIN:
Chicken breast stuffed with choritzo & rosemary, roasted.
New potatoes with melted butter and chives? Maybe? Possibly not...
Salt & pepper quick roasted tomatoes (in half)
Salad (iceberg/spinach/basil) with lemony vinegary olive oil dressing.
PUDDING:
The butterscotch tart of ultimate win win win. I hope.

Right, off to bed.
Silje's bed, coz it's double and my room is FREEZING today it seems. Brrrr.

This was a bit of a poo update.

Ninetween

Late as it seems, always, but I'm avoiding doing things that I should be doing (though surely this is one of them?) such as:
-Making & writing a letter to Silje's parents (they sent me one from Voss in the summer)
-Letter & birthday card to my granny & my uncle
-Belated letters & birthday cards to Imy & Tanzee
-General drawing
-Making purses (yay!) for Babahogs. The best tweed & some leopard print furry business, all made lovely & noice (if theres anyone who actually reads this thing who would like to aquire one of these purses (admittedly I should make them first, and then show pictures...) then let me know. About £10 I think).
-Tidying my room and study. NEEDS DOING. Too messy for my liking.
-Telling my mum (and dad, I guess?) that I'm hopefully going to Norway for X-mas. Mmmmmm the food... can't wait. No Lanzarote any more.

Anyhoo... so here is a blog.
We just did lots of food shopping. Hurrah for tartan granny trolleys from the cheap shop in town. Ohhh their wheels make so much noise. Faye & Silje made yummy berry & stuff smoothies for late lunch, and I FINALLY seem to have got over my, ahem, hangover, from Thursday night (annual Cottage party near Pendennis Head)! Wheeee. Ankle still hurts from twisting it on the path down, though.

A lot of people are walking up the road.
Today I don't seem to like milk, I'm wondering whether to be shocked with myself. Usually I can't get enough.
Oh, if you're ever in Marks & Spencers, go find some snack food called "Wasabi peas". Also their "Chilli seed mix" is gorgeous. Oh so good to snack on.

We all went and bagsied good seats in the studio the other day, I'm got mine next to a lovely corner right next to the fire door. Wall on one side, Silje on the other, and no one too close behind me. Perfect. Perhaps Kathleen will be sitting in the corner (I know she likes the corners...) so that'll be good. A most excellent person.

Ramble ramble ramble. OH RAMBLING! The other day, Silje & I got the bus to Trebah gardens & then walked 7 miles back along the coastal path to Falmouth. A lovely day, and took us far less time than we thought it would. We then had a thought that we want to complete the whole Cornish coastal path by the time we finish uni... 200 more miles to go.

Any thing else...?
Made a tasty vegan (not that I am) banana bread the other day. It was goood. Ate it at our BBQ. People liked it. They also liked my potatoe salad. Om nom nom. Need to clean the BBQ.

Here, have some links:
http://labs.ideeinc.com/multicolr
Faye let me to that one, basically choose some colours which take your fancy & it'll find photos from Flickr with those colours. Good for colour palettes. Or just eye candy. Mmm.

http://www.andreawan.com/
Am not so sure about all of her work, but some of it caught my eye.

http://www.thebungaloo.com/HOME.html
Again, not all of it, but one piece definately liked my eyes "Breakfast in Peru"

http://takashiiwasaki.info/takashiiwasaki/english/embroidery.html
And I think that those are just a bit tasty coz they're done totally in embroidery. Wow.

Any pictures to show...? Yes... here are some which AREN'T my images:
I can't remember where I found this, or who's work it is, but I love what they've done with ink & already written on paper...Again, no idea where or who, but it's lovely! Silver birch legs, om nom.Drew Turner. OM NOM NOM. Perhaps a bit too fashionable... but who cares, really.Ian Davis. Damn these triangles. I never used to be much into triangles, but then theres this triangle craze going around and everyone seems to be using them and sometimes using them WELL and I'm going "ohh, I like this..." I hate trends. Oh damn them. (Speaking of triangles, at the Cottage party on Thursday we were in the middle of a triangle of 3 most lovely men - Tristan Omeara (http://www.myspace.com/tristanomeara) who is currently busking & generally BEING in Falmouth. Oh give him to me, NOW!! And also the 2 lovely long haired chaps who we like to call Piercing Boy and Juggling Boy. Their real names shall remain quiet. It was goood).Louis Wain. Miaow.

Shawn Creeden has done a little series on bats. Although not AMAZINGLY drawn, they're really noice & I just want to cuddle them whilst they do things wot bats do.And finally "thisislimbo" from Flickr. Their work is stripey & gangly & nice.

And now my stuffs...

A hat (leopard print fur & wine fleece) I made for Vera ALL BY HAND! No sewing machine...! Unfortunately it was too small, so it went to Faye....So I made another. All by hand again (we only THEN went and bought a sewing machine). This one I made in a more bonnety style rather than helmety style - none of them were made from official patterns, just pretty much made them up (though this 2nd one did take inspiration from Silje's cat hat which she got from... I do not know). Both with cozy ear flaps. And pom poms.

Either this or the next one will go to Silje's parents (postcard). Acrylic & gouache & biro & pencil. And this one I made too. Now I'm going to made a woodpecker one for my granny (and buy a rude Cornish postcard for my Uncle John, as he is a builder, and they like rude stuff).
Anyway. This is where I shall end. Phew, I did a proper entry.

EIGHT! TEEN!

Almost a week late, but better late than never?
Narrrr....
Just walked 7.30 miles and went for a swim at Maenporth. Chilly, but the weather was lovely to us. Now determined to walk the entire Cornish coastal path by the time I finish uni. Mmmmm.
Been making leopard print hats, initially I made it for Vera but her head is too big / the hat was too small, so now Faye owns it (and I'm making Vrarr another).
More tomorrow. Maybe.
Also, I'M FREE FROM DEADLINE! NO WORK AT ALL TILL 8TH OCT!!
Except my own PERSONAL work, ohhh such yum.

Sweeeeeeeeeet 16

Urgh, hangover.
I should get used to the facts that Tuesdays are gonna be shit days, Mondays are just too awesome to miss out on. We had more sea shantying, folk dancing, and general yeeeeeeah-ing.
Though I've never much like Tuesdays anyway, when I was young I used to not like them because thats when Elk had her swimming lessons (I think mine were Wednesday maybe, coz I was in the older group?). So I had to go with mum to the swimming pool and wait around sooooo bored for ages. I kinda miss my Monday swimming though, that was racing - used to win gold medals for front crawl. Mmm. And then Thursdays were trampolining. Friday Rainbows / Brownies / Guides... and all the rest dotted about. Army, senior section Guides, explorer Scouts... all on certain days. So I guess now my drinking and sea shanty listening and folk dancing is the new swimming. Luckily last night I did not swim, just paddled. The harbour may not be the nicest place to swim, especially not when drunk.
ANYWAY....
Yes, hangover. And like this I'll probably fail to work, so I'll write an entry on time again. The others (Silje, Vera & Vera's friend from Norway) have gone to Saint Micheals Mount today, I'm giving it a miss since the electrition is here, sorting stuff out.
BORING, BEX, THIS DRIVVEL IS BORING.

FAYE IS BACK IN A WEEK! 6 DAYS TO BE EXACT! How excellent. Falmouth is definately getting more crowded again, I think the Foundation freshers have arrived. And only 10 more days in which to complete this summer sketchbook.... as long as I don't get too distracted I should be fine, just got the back to do, and I have stuff lined up for every page so it's just a matter of drawing it all and such. The long spread on the left is mine, the other is Silje's. They're longer than the main chunk of the upstairs landing. I liiiiike.
I'm pretty proud of the book, though looking back to the front it's crazy to see how the summer just flew. And now it's autumn. Thats a word I never used to be able to spell.... autumn. And beautiful. Because was a fine word to remember, because Miss Barnard taught us a way of remembering it, and wrote it on the blackboard "big elephants can always upset small elephants". She also used to tell me off for picking my nose... I like picking my nose (thats valuable information for you, right there).

Urgh, this typing stuff isn't ao easy today. I ripped the end of my finger open with a plastic bottle top. So now it's bound up in a black skull & crossbones pirate plaster. Yeeeeeah.
I swear the electrition just used our shower... I spose he was fixing the fan in there??
I should eat. But what! I want vegetables. Maybe eat the left over brocoli.... oh shush, Bex, no one wants to read about what you might eat.
On the mention of food, Silje & I made blackberry and kiwi cupcakes! Used blackberries we picking in our first bout of berry picking (we went again, this week) and then blended kiwi and a little green food colouring into the butter icing on top. Made in silicon cupcake moulds - so good. The insides of them weren't as purple as we had hoped, but still had a purple tinge to them (perhaps if we hadn't used a mix of muscavado and caster sugar it would have been more purple... since muscavado is daaaark).
And another mention of food is the delicious sandwich I had in Truro the other day. Brie, smoked bacon, and red onion marmalade in brown seedy bread. Perfect amount.Om nom nom. Theres one and a little bit missing from that... is it possible to tell people how to cut your sandwich? Because if so I'd always have it with the crusts cut off (but not thrown away! Nooooo, I like the crusts, but I like eating them first and THEN eating the best bit in the middle). Final mention of food (for the time being) http://www.graze.com/ go there, and enter the promotion code of FHMPQJD and you'll get a free box of fruit / nuts / dairy free chocolate beans... etc to munch upon! Yay. It's good. Only annoyance so far is that the box I am currently munching upon (fresh cut apple, Americas nut mix, and the dairy free chocolate beans) was meant to get here on Saturday... agh well, nuts and fake Smarties don't go off. It's just the apple which tastes a little under the weather, but still perfectly edible. Saves effort for my hungover state. Ok, the apple does actually taste a little dodgy now. But at least it won't give me food poisoning! (Vera thinks her Subway last night did that to her... I am now glad I do not eat there... too much salt and food poisoning. DELICIOUS. Not to mention over priced...

A trio of old women all in pink just walked down the road. Is it a special pink day, or do people just enjoy looking like oversized marshmallows?

Lets show you some stuff I have pillaged from the interwebs.
Some more of Hvass & Hannibal's work - I've luuurved lots of their work for a while now, but this piece re-caught my eye and I decided that I wanted it to be painted onto the big back wall of the living room. It would be an amazing piece to have painted there. Dream on, Bex.

Work by Rachell Sumpter. It's not all good, but this little series I do dribble over a little. Eskimos and whatnot.

Jeff Hopp yaaaay! Again, I've been stalking him on the internet for a while, some years. His work is marvellous, and much of it is all just colouring pencil sort of stuff... mad.
Anything else....
I shall throw up some links on here.
Bleeeeurgh....

And eat these fake Smarties (they're rather tasty, especially when 2 are eaten with 1 almond / brazil nut / walnut from the nut section).
And maybe play Sims 3, whilst procrastinating about doing work.
Good bye.

OH! P.S. I don't love you, but this is great:

One and five

Shit, nearly a week left. And I actually had stuff to write about...!!
Lets leave it for tomorrow's update, if it appears on time (doubtful, since tomorrow I shall be hit with a hangover).
Strange dream last night, complete with:
-"You stopped"
-"You flopped"
-"There is no love in this relationship".
Dear me.
SORRY BLOG! But I was never meant to be a mother, not even for a blog it seems!
